Record summary
Queensland farmer George Pedley reported seeing a domed object rise from a swamp near Tully and later found a circular flattened area in reeds, popularly called a “saucer nest.” The episode became one of Australia’s best-known UFO reports and is useful for comparing luminous or descending-sky motifs with claims of physical traces. The Australian Flying Saucer Review and local investigators preserved competing accounts. The interpretation is uncertain: wind, vegetation growth, misperception, fabrication, or an unidentified event have all been suggested, and no independently verified craft was established.
