McPike Mansion paranormal claims

Record summary

McPike Mansion, an ornate nineteenth-century house in Alton, became associated with ghost tours, television coverage and paranormal investigations in the 1990s and 2000s. Claims have included apparitions, voices, unusual photographs and activity attributed to former residents or servants. The property offers a comparison between architectural decay, local haunted-place branding and investigator-generated evidence. Its documented ownership history can be researched separately from later supernatural narratives. Much of the available material is testimonial or promotional, and alleged images and recordings require independent examination.
