2009 Istanbul UFO Report at Atatürk Airport

Record summary

Turkish media and UFO organizations reported an alleged unidentified object near Istanbul’s aviation environment in 2009, during the period when Kumburgaz footage was receiving substantial attention. The case is useful for studying how airport sightings, aviation language, and national UFO publicity interacted. The precise observer, flight-safety documentation, and whether the report represented an independent observation or recycled imagery are uncertain. It should be treated as a press lead requiring reconstruction from contemporary Turkish reporting rather than as an established aviation event.
