The Rendlesham Forest incident

Record summary

US Air Force personnel stationed at RAF Woodbridge and RAF Bentwaters reported unusual lights and an apparent object in Rendlesham Forest in December 1980. Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt later circulated a memorandum describing the events, making this a particularly identifiable lead for comparing military witness reports, low-light perception, memory, and later ufological interpretation. Proposed explanations include a lighthouse, stars, atmospheric effects, or an unidentified event. The documentary record includes Halt’s memo, audio, service records, and later interviews whose reliability and chronology remain disputed.
