Trindade Island UFO photographs

Record summary

A series of photographs taken by journalist Almiro Baraúna aboard the Brazilian Navy training vessel Almirante Saldanha became one of Brazil’s best-known UFO records. The images reportedly show a disc-like object near Trindade Island and were examined by naval authorities before being publicly discussed. The case matters for comparison because it combines alleged visual evidence, military custody and a civilian photographer’s testimony. Uncertainty concerns the photographs’ chain of custody, the quality of the original negatives, and later claims that the images could have been staged or manipulated.
