Australian National Archives UFO files

Record summary

Australian defence and civil aviation records contain reports of unidentified aerial objects from across the country, including material associated with RAAF investigations and intelligence correspondence. This is a documentary lead rather than one encounter, useful for comparing how officials recorded, categorized and closed cases involving aircraft, balloons, astronomical objects and hoaxes. The records can clarify what was actually reported and when. File availability, cataloguing and redaction vary, and archival “unidentified” generally means unresolved administratively, not extraordinary.
