The 1980s Catholic charismatic renewal testimonies in Kerala

Record summary

Catholic charismatic groups in Kerala expanded during the 1980s and circulated accounts of visions of Jesus or Mary, prophetic words, healings, and deliverance at prayer meetings and retreats. The Divine Retreat Centre and diocesan renewal structures provide named institutional locations, while newsletters and retreat literature may identify individual episodes. This lead permits comparison between Catholic charismatic experience and older Marian or saintly apparition traditions. Verification is difficult because many accounts are devotional, translated, anonymous, or subject to ecclesiastical caution rather than formal investigation.
