The 1942 San Francisco Bay Area Air-Raid Reports

Record summary

Residents around San Francisco Bay reported or discussed unidentified aircraft and aerial lights during the coastal-defense period of World War II. These reports belong primarily to the history of air-raid anxiety, blackout procedures, and military observation rather than to a documented UFO incident. They may nevertheless help researchers compare civilian testimony with official explanations and local press framing. Individual episodes should be recovered from San Francisco newspapers and civil-defense records, because later UFO accounts can blur ordinary wartime activity with unexplained sightings.
