2004 Tehran-area unidentified aerial object reports

Record summary

A subset of 2004 Iranian reports concerns lights or objects seen near Tehran, where dense aviation activity, military facilities and urban observation created a high-information but difficult environment. UFO writers have sometimes presented these reports as evidence of official interception, while publicly accessible documentation is fragmentary. The lead is useful for comparing newspaper accounts, translated testimony and alleged military involvement without presuming an extraordinary explanation. Verification should establish whether each report involved a pilot, civilian, radar operator or merely a later anonymous source.
