Kofu UFO incident

Record summary

In February 1975, two Japanese schoolchildren near Kofu reported seeing a luminous object land or descend near a vineyard, followed by alleged humanoid figures and unusual physical impressions. The case became prominent in Japanese UFO writing and was later discussed internationally as a possible close encounter. It matters for comparing child witnesses, media amplification, physical-trace claims, and retrospective interviewing. The principal uncertainties involve witness age, later retellings, the absence of independent contemporaneous documentation, and competing conventional interpretations.
