Mexico City Eclipse UFO Reports

Record summary

During the total solar eclipse of 11 July 1991, spectators in Mexico reported unusual luminous objects or points near the eclipsed Sun, and Mexican television helped circulate the images and claims. The episode is a useful comparison for studying attention effects, astronomical conditions, camera artifacts, and the transformation of eclipse observations into a UFO narrative. Some material has been interpreted as Venus, aircraft, lens artifacts, or other ordinary phenomena, while the original footage and witness context are unevenly documented. It should be treated as a media and observational episode, not a verified anomalous encounter.
