Minot Air Force Base UFO incident

Record summary

Personnel at Minot Air Force Base reported unusual lights and radar activity in October 1968, including observations associated with a B-52 and ground-based systems. Project Blue Book reviewed the episode, and later researchers debated whether the reports reflected aircraft, stars, atmospheric effects, or instrumentation problems. The case matters because it sits within a strategic nuclear-base environment and illustrates the evidentiary tension between radar data and visual testimony. Verification requires the relevant Project Blue Book file, operational records, weather data, and witness statements.
