Tehran UFO Incident

Record summary

Two Iranian F-4 Phantom II crews and ground personnel reportedly observed a luminous object over Tehran, with an attempted interception documented in a U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency report. The account is important for comparing pilot testimony, radar claims, weapons-system effects and later documentary transmission across military channels. Reported details include instrument problems and a possible object near Mehrabad, but the evidentiary base depends heavily on translated official reporting and retrospective summaries. Conventional explanations and the reliability of the original operational data remain open questions.
