Rendlesham Forest encounter

Record summary

United States Air Force personnel stationed at RAF Woodbridge investigated unusual lights near Rendlesham Forest, with later testimony describing a landed object and, in one account, small occupants. The site’s proximity to the North Sea and military airfields makes it relevant to coastal-security and witness-memory comparisons. The written Halt memorandum records lights but not confirmed entities. Competing interpretations include a lighthouse, astronomical objects, military activity, misperception and embellishment. Testimony changed over time, so chronology and source provenance are essential.
