Peñablanca apparitions

Record summary

Beginning in 1983, a group connected with Claudio Rojas reported appearances of the Virgin at a grotto in Peñablanca, Chile. The events attracted crowds and religious supporters, while critics and some Catholic investigators questioned the testimony and alleged that messages were produced through ventriloquism or other means. The case is valuable for comparison because it includes charismatic authority, media attention, pilgrimage, institutional skepticism, and accusations of fraud. Dates, participants, investigative findings, and the exact status of the site should be reconstructed from Chilean sources.
