Record summary

What happened Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker told Jackson County sheriff's officers that a glowing oval craft appeared while they were fishing and that three floating, clawed beings took them aboard. Hickson described an examination before both men were returned. Police left the men alone with a hidden recorder after the interview; their private conversation conveyed distress and continued belief in the event. Parker initially spoke little publicly and later expanded his account in interviews and writing. The secret recording is evidence of their emotional state, but it cannot establish what caused it. Evidence Two witnesses, prompt police reports, a secretly recorded conversation and later interviews. No verified physical trace, instrument record or independent close witness was established. Explanations considered A jointly maintained fabrication, an altered-state or psychological episode, and misinterpretation followed by escalating narrative have been proposed. The hidden recording is often argued against a simple opportunistic hoax but is not conclusive. What remains uncertain The two men were together throughout and therefore are not independent corroborators. Later hypnosis and decades of retelling can modify memory and should be separated from the first police account. Primary source Pascagoula Abduction — Wikipedia
