Record summary

What happened United Airlines employees at O'Hare reported a dark disc or oval object hovering beneath a cloud ceiling above Concourse C. Some said it accelerated upward and left a sharply defined opening in the cloud. The Federal Aviation Administration initially said it had no information, then attributed the report to a weather phenomenon after media inquiries. No known photograph, video or radar record publicly confirms the object, but the accounts came from several airport workers in different positions. Evidence Multiple airport-employee reports, internal airline communications and FAA/media records. No publicly established radar, photograph or video record exists. Explanations considered A hole-punch cloud or other weather effect, aircraft seen at an unusual angle, and a shared rumor have been proposed. A natural cloud opening does not by itself establish the dark object witnesses described before it. What remains uncertain Most witnesses were not publicly identified, estimates of height and size were unaided, and the lack of imagery or radar prevents a reliable reconstruction.
