Record summary
What happened During a total solar eclipse, numerous people filmed bright objects near the darkened Sun. Television coverage promoted one video of a metallic-looking disc and encouraged a wave of submissions. Analyses identified many clips as Venus, aircraft, balloons or video artefacts. Evidence Many consumer videos and known astronomical conditions document what cameras recorded. Explanations considered Venus became conspicuous during eclipse darkness, while defocused points, camera zoom, balloons and aircraft account for other imagery. What remains uncertain The collection contains unrelated clips of varying generation and quality; quantity does not make them one event. Primary source Mexico City eclipse UFO videos — Wikipedia
