Record summary
What happened USAF radar stations at Bentwaters and Lakenheath reported fast and stationary targets. An RAF Venom interceptor was directed to one contact; the pilot reportedly acquired it on airborne radar and saw a luminous object that moved behind his aircraft. The Condon Report later treated the case as one of the stronger unresolved radar-visual reports, though critics identified possible radar propagation and record inconsistencies. Evidence Multiple ground radars, a reported airborne-radar lock, controller testimony and a military intercept are cited. Explanations considered Anomalous radar propagation, meteors, conventional aircraft and conflation of separate events remain alternatives. What remains uncertain Original records are incomplete and some key testimony was reconstructed years later. Primary source Lakenheath–Bentwaters radar-visual incident — Wikipedia
