Record summary

What happened Residents and researchers have repeatedly observed luminous balls and elongated lights in the Hessdalen valley. Instrument campaigns recorded optical, radar and spectral data for some events. Reports vary from brief lights to long-duration moving phenomena, and not every observation necessarily has the same origin. Evidence Long-term civilian reports, automated cameras, radar detections and scientific field campaigns provide an unusually sustained dataset. Explanations considered Car headlights, aircraft, stars, combustion or ionised dust, piezoelectric effects and atmospheric plasma have been proposed. What remains uncertain Some instrument detections are ambiguous or not simultaneous, and no single theory explains every recorded light. Primary source Hessdalen lights observations — Wikipedia
