Record summary
What happened Industrial mechanic and amateur prospector Stefan Michalak reported seeing two reddish objects near Falcon Lake, one of which landed on rock. He approached a metallic, disc-like craft, heard voices or sounds inside and said a panel or vent expelled hot gas that set his clothing alight. Michalak developed a grid-like pattern of burns on his chest and reported prolonged illness. Investigators examined the site and later found small radioactive metal fragments, although their origin and relationship to the event remain disputed. The case is notable for documented injury and site investigation but still depends on one witness for the craft and encounter sequence. Evidence Medical records and burn photographs, damaged clothing, site examinations, Michalak's prompt account and later recovered metal fragments with reported radioactivity. Explanations considered A fabricated event, accidental industrial or camp exposure, and misidentified aircraft have been suggested. The patterned burns are unusual but do not establish the source described by Michalak. What remains uncertain Chain of custody for later fragments is imperfect, and some searches did not initially locate the site. Reported symptoms are not all specific to radiation or an exotic exposure.
