Record summary

What happened Betty Cash, Vickie Landrum and Landrum's young grandson reported encountering a brilliant diamond-shaped object above a rural road, emitting heat and periodic flame. They said numerous military-style helicopters arrived and escorted or surrounded it. Cash later experienced severe illness and the others reported lesser symptoms; they attributed these effects to radiation or heat from the object. The witnesses sued the U.S. government, but the case was dismissed because no evidence established that the alleged object or helicopters belonged to the government. Investigators were unable to document a military operation matching the account, and medical symptoms did not yield a definitive exposure source. Evidence Three related witnesses, medical records, alleged vehicle heat effects and later investigator interviews. No confirmed radar record, independent helicopter witness chain or measured contamination was produced. Explanations considered Misidentified aircraft, a bright astronomical object, hoax or psychosomatic and unrelated illness have been proposed. A classified experimental vehicle remains a claim without a matching documented program. What remains uncertain The witnesses shared the same vehicle and could influence one another. Symptoms establish illness but not its cause, and the reported helicopter formation lacks decisive independent documentation. Primary source Cash–Landrum incident — Wikipedia
